James's Story
Life
I work for Loma Linda Hospital and am a registered nurse, have been married to the same woman for 35 yrs. My wife is a school teacher and is off most of the summer, so the last 5 yrs we have been taking 4-6 weeks off every year and have traveled extensively to Europe, the middle East and Africa. Since 2000 we have been to Switzerland, Israel, Egypt, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, England, Scotland, and Wales. We just missed the London bombings by 1 week on this years trip. We have 3 kids who are all grown up and we have 3 grandchildren, with a new one due in November 2005. My oldest daughter is a school teacher in San Diego, my second daughter is a social worker, and my son is a Navy Seal in the US Navy. Life has been really great to us. We live in Hesperia,Ca. where we have lived for the last 25yrs. We bought a lot out here and built the house with our own 2 hands, it took several yrs to complete. The best part is it will be paid for in 24 months. We are looking forward to a temporary move to Germany for approx. 2 yrs, when my wife, can get a leave of absence to teach school there, and we can explore on the weekends. We have 2 Weeny dogs, and 2 tom cats, for pets, when the kids were growing up we also had horses, cows, goats, pigs, and chickens....Expand for more
Now that the kids are out, we only have the dogs and cats. My hobbys are hunting , woodworking, travel, I also did some professional magic shows, some yrs back and appeared at "The Ice House" in Pasadena. I am a member of "The Magic Castle," in Hollywood. I had to give up the magic, due to arthritis in my hands, and can't do manipulation as good anymore, but I still enjoy watching other people do magic. Back in the 1990's, I learned to fly a plane, and bought a Piper Cherokee, and kept it for about 8 yrs. I sold it because it cost much more than I was willing to pay to keep it flying. (If God wanted man to fly, he would have given him more money.) Well thats about all the interesting stuff I can think of, so hope to see some of you from the class of '65, at the reunion
August 2007 Had neck surgery and fused my neck to my head. Have been on disability since then. I am now going to collect social security disability starting January 2008. Never though I would see social security, or retirement but guess I made it. I am enjoying my retirement and have taken up flying radio control models airplanes, they are alot cheaper then owning a real plane. And not as dangerous if they crash, I have crashed 5 models since Jan. 08 hope to see you all at the next reunion.
