James "Jamie"'s Story

In High School, you may remember me as a photographer on the newspaper and Legand staff. What can I say, it got me out of real work. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High in 1981, I enrolled in a school for stuntmen and subsequently became a member of the Texas Stuntmen's Association. I was awarded "The Best All-Around Stuntman" trophy in 1983 by that organization. I attended Baylor University from 1988-1992 majoring in Journalism and Professional Writing for Stage and Screen. In 1992, I became a reporter in Austin, Texas, covering such stories as "The Waco Stand-Off" and Bill Clinton's run for President. I was briefly attached to the National Press Corp as Clinton campaigned throughout Texas. I also covered the Dallas Cowboy training camp at St. Edward's University for two years. During this same time, I also worked as a "stringer" for a magazine in New York City, covering the film industry in Texas and more specifically the Austin area. Some of the events I continually covered were South-By-Southwest, The Austin Heart of Screenwriting Conference, and Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic. In 1994, I had the distinction of directing the first live music concerts to broadcast an interactive show on the internet in New Orleans and Austin. The first live show was featured ...Expand for more
on a Discovery Channel Special entitled "Cyberspace." It was during this time that I worked on television and movie projects in and around Austin. In 1996, I began working for a prestigious Austin law firm for the President of The American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA). I simply found being an investigator paid more than a journalist or movie work. I investigated many high-profile civil cases including the well-known class action suit against the Catholic Archdiocese, which lead to the Zero Tolerance Policy in 2001. I was employed as the firm's chief investigator until my boss retired, at which time I obtained my P.I. license and began my own firm. I returned to East Texas in 2005 where I continue to work as a Private Investigator. I am also Regional Vice President of a business intelligence company based in Philadelphia. Besides this rather "Readers Digest" version of my life, I am passionate about enjoying life with my beautiful wife. I love fast cars, fast Harleys and traveling. I've stayed in castles in The Black Forest of Germany and The Highlands of Scotland. I have been lucky enough to have visited over a dozen countries and meeting some amazing people. And, I am always planning our next trip and life experience. Basically, I work in order to travel.
