James's Story

Hi, Everyone. If my name is a little confusing, it's because when I went to Austin, it was Jim Smith. Later, when my stepfather adopted me, I changed it to Wolf. Back at Austin, my principal interests were in music. I was in the band all four years and enjoyed the music and the company of the other folks in the band. I also have fond memories of my other classes, my teachers, and the wonderful people who took those classes with me. After graduation, I served in the United States Army and played in bands there as well. When I attended the University of Texas at El Paso, you guessed it, I was a music major. I taught band in the Ysleta Independent School ...Expand for more
District for several years before returning to the Army, where I stayed until I retired as First Sergeant of the 62nd Army Band at Fort Bliss, Texas. I returned to UTEP and earned my counseling certification, and have been a school counselor at Chaparral Middle School in the Gadsden Independent School District since 1995. I hope to retire in a few years. My wife, Martha Saldana-Wolf, and I live in El Paso, Texas. We have no children, but we are the proud €œdog parents€ of a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a Bichon, and a Terrier mix. I enjoy dog agility, travel, music, and horse racing. I hope to see as many of you as possible at the reunion this fall.
