College Marquette University was a tremendous learning experience for me. In the beginning I did not want to be there and was not prepared for the experience, socially or academically. Personal demons were raging at first and I was invited to leave Marquette after two years. After getting clean and sober I decided to return to Marquette to finish what I had began. I had a new attitude and was motivated to succeed. Being a non-traditional student made me feel stupid at times but in the end I had no one to blame but myself. Seriously, what can you talk about with an eighteen year old? I developed relationships with a few faculty members, most of whom I am still in contact with today, but I have very little contact with any student from Marquette save for Liz Torres (Baron). I worked as a writing tutor at the Ott Memorial writing center for cash and was a full-time student until I graduated. I triple-majored in Secondary Education, Teaching major in English, and a Teaching major in Philosophy. I did my student teaching experience at Bay View H.S. I desperately requested South Division H.S. but this fellow student beat me to the sign-up line and chose South by DEFAULT, meaning she just pointed and picked randomly.
