Jan Charles's Story
The picture is from one of the last days of a 42 day final world cruise of the Queen Elizabeth 2 (2008)---a great ship that first sailed in 1967---just 2 years after we graduated.The ladies are two (both are married) friends--one from Austrailia and one from England.Taken in February, 2008.
As for me I graduated from the University of California--Berkeley in 1969 (Economics) and then from Harvard Law School in 1972. For 23 years 1975-1997, I was Senior Vice President and General Counsel (lawyer)---and Public Affairs Officer for Ralphs Grocery---where I worked when I was in High School. While at Ralphs I was in the Pepperdine Presidential MBA program and received my MBA in 1986.During those years I was frequently on TV, usually answering the question, "When did you stop beating your wife."(smiley face).
I was married in 1987 for 6 1/2 years---but am single now. I own 11 Radio stations in Wyoming and South Dakota---and a resort in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I live in Wyoming, but still have a house in the Hollywood Hills and Big Bear, and want to buy a condo overlooking Las Vegas.
I have a son will son turn 30. He was born when I was 42. He graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, where he was number one in his class--and editor of the school paper---I'm very proud of him. At the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania he was President of the Student Circriulum Committee (SCU) and was President of the Penn-Wharton College Republicans graduating in 2012 with a 3.76 average. He is currently running my radio stations.In 2014, he ran for the Legislature in Wyoming-taking on a 6 terms incumbent. He lost by 20 votes. In August 2016 he won the Republican Primary beating an incumbent City Council person. nd youngest person, at 26, to be elected in Wyoming history. He was sworn in January 10, 2017---I was there, and had his first bill signed into law in March 2017. He was reelected to a second term in 2018, and is up for his third term in 2020. He's conservative and has passed many bills---and had his picture on the front page of the Statewide Newspaper twice in the last year. Ultimately, he'll be running for statewide Office or Federal Office.

Life has been great to me--and fun. I have traveled extensively. In 2012, I was in Africa for 79 days. Since then I've been on many cruises, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Cuba and Alaska, and a world cruise referred to above. In December- January I was in South America, and then Antartica (43 days). I've been in all 7 Continents. In August I was in Eastern Europe for 54 days, Russsia (cruise from Moscow to St, Petersberg). Then Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Lativia, Lituanian, Ukrania, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia.
In November-December, 2015, I shot a Movie--I'm an 80% owner---I'm a 60 ish bar owner in the year 2061!!!I am shot dead in the Movie. I was the Executive producer of the Movie, Culture of Fear...check it out on IMDB--that will be out soon. My voice over is the opening 2 minutes of the Movie....Culture of Fear.
I'd love to hear from all of you---you were a big part of my life and I miss talking to you---Please do contact me. All the best....to everyone. You all made my life exciting. It's hard to believe it was so long ago---but these memories are extremely long lasting. The 50th was good, but I'm critical of the way the company handled it. They should have, or we should have had everyone introduce themselves...It is difficult to imagine it's more than 50 years ago, and difficult to recognize people, without going right up to them. The LA School district should do something about the company, in my view.
