Jan's Story

My name is Jan Glazebrook (Clark) and I graduated from KHS in 1970. I went to college in Boston at Northeastern Univ. Then became a nuclear medicine technologist and worked in Boston until I moved to Richmond, VA. I met my husband, David when we happened to move into the same apartment with a mutual friend. It was like and then love at first sight! We have been together for 39 years, married 37 of those yrs. We were blessed with 2 boys - Jonathon, 35 and Benjamin, 31. When we moved to NC in the early '90's, David had his own business, so I went back to school and then taught in Gaston County Schools for 20 years. I loved every single year! I was diagnosed with Lupus and started having health issues, which I mostly ignore! My retirement so far has been a blast! My oldest, Jonathon and his beautiful wife met and married in the San Francisco area, so I would take trips out to visit. Then along came Connor, my,now, 2 1/2 y.o. grandson. He is the love and light of my life!!! Needless to say, I spent a great deal of time with them in their beautiful home in Alameda, CA. A few months ago, Desi, my daughter (in law) was offered a job that she couldn't refuse in Cambridge, MA. So the CA Glazebrooks moved east. They have a lovely home in Arlington, MA. Jonathon has been a stay at home dad until the preschool at Desi's company h...Expand for more
ad an opening for Connor. Jonathon starts his new job in Sept. I have already spent time up there. Plus, that is where my family is - NH and CT. Our youngest, Benjamin lives here in Gastonia about a mile from us. He helps us here when we need an extra hand. He lives with his dog, cat and lizard. He's "gun shy" when it comes to women. Bless his heart, he was burned by two women that he loved. He is thinking about becoming a foster parent and he volunteers with photographing rescue dogs. David, my understanding, darling husband is semi retired. With our "off" time, we love to take walks with our two rescue dogs, Happy and Murphy. We also love watching NC sunsets from our front porch with a cold glass of ice tea. Gotcha! He likes beer and I like wine! We are about to become foster parents to a young lady who was in my prek class eons ago. She is 15 y.o. and she is smart, beautiful and kind. We are very excited! After she gets settled, I plan on taking classes to become a guardian ad litem. I've worked with so many kids in less than ideal situations, so I want to help them through the court system. Every child should be represented in court! Hobbies: Reading, crocheting, jewelry making, scrap booking, stamping, any kind of DIY stuff Interests: Art, travel, history, design and architecture, anything to do with animals
