Jan's Story

Life After graduating from Rowland, I went to Cal Poly for 7 years and got 2 bachelor degrees: a b.s. in the social sciences and a b.a. in music. Somewhere in there I got married. Then I had 2 kids and got divorced. For the past 23 years I've been working at the company my dad founded as the company bookkeeper. My children are now twenty somethings attending college. My son Ethan and his 5 year old daughter Victoria live with me and my daughter Emily is married and has 2 sons Manuel 3 years old and Mario 1 year old. My grandchildren bring me such joy. I LOVE being a grandma! Recently I had the opportunity to go to Honolulu, Hawaii and had a great time. I hope to do more traveling in the future, see more plays and musicals a...Expand for more
nd continue to dote on my children and especially my grandchildren. Because I went to Rowland High for only 2 years--my junior and senior years--was so shy and lived such an isolated existence back then, I didn't think I'd be very interested in the comings and goings of Rowland alumni BUT after reading the rompin' stomps down memory lane on the message board, it's made me truly sorry I didn't know y'all better. Rowland Hts. has changed drastically since I went to high school. Now when you drive down the main drag--Colima, formerly 5th Ave.--you wonder if you're still in the U.S. and not in some Asian country. But I'm sure the kids going to JARHS are having a great time and will be future participants in this web site. Go Raiders!
