Jan's Story
Graduated from Chief Sealth 1967, went to college, worked while paying my way through school. Lived away from home (with girlfriends) for a short period of time, they worked days, I worked nights; returned to my mother's home to continue to focus on school. I was most fortunate to meet my future spouse, while working a job in Bellevue. We married 1970 grad school, poor, but had jobs, raised one son and are still happy together. I worked as an RN, I retired at age 65. We both love travel, photography. I turned-out to become a gourmet cook, who knew?. And Pete is a retired educator (teacher)-maintains street clocks-writes scientific articles dealing with metals, computer aided technology...he is really smart. We have no grandchildren, so no reason to save our funds for the future generations. Our son has enough funds. ast two years ..Life moves forward.
Life continues, my mother-fell-broke hip-dementia-never went home again, pasted away 2016. Sold her home in West Seattle. Lost my baby brother, Stan about 10 yrs. ago-stage 4 kidney cancer with brain and bone mets, not a pretty death.
Pete and I are happy, he's a little heavier now that I bake bread once a week. Neighbors come over for home made deserts frequently...they know where the best baked goodies. I seldom eat any of this. I have maintained weight (104#s) over all these years. I love the process of baking, cooking as science. I couldn't live without my scale to weigh product.
Broke my left ankle, wearing clogs and transferring my computer to it's home space, a little slip. Pete told the physician, "She was running down the hall naked and tripped over the cat. But the cat was okay." I wanted to hit him. I got really good with the scooter thing. I almost ran over a few grocery customers. Looking forward to class Reunion.
