Jan's Story

In 1973 looking for a job I ended up with a career in steel. From inside sales, outside sales, owning my own steel company back to inside sales. My steel career expanded to over 30 years. I was laid off in 2009 to end it. Even though I no longing work in the outside world I manage to stay mighty busy. With selling Avon, keeping records and website updated for our 68 class, to scrapbooking the last 60 years of my and my family lives, I still seem to be looking for something more. I like to stay busy. I was married to Mike Rider (class of 67) for 35 years. He passed away in 2004. He was sick the majority of our married life. I don't miss the s...Expand for more
ickness that went along with it but I do miss him. We had two boys, which are both married and one granddaughter who is now 17 years old. I don't get to see her very much cause she is very busy with school and working. I don't know what it's like not to be multi-tasking all of the time. But as I get older I realize I can't do it. Or should I say not as WELL. I guess that is where retiring is good. I can then do what I want to when I want to. No time limits and no one telling me this needs to be done. Next year we will be starting to work on our 45th reunion in 2013. Can't wait. I like to plan things. Been thinking on what we can do different.
