Jan's Story
Life
Graduated from Bullard High School in the summer of 1975, a year early. Went on to Tahoe to ski and work from 1975 to 1988. In that time, I became a professional mogul skiier. Held various jobs, waitress, purchasing agent, medical receptionist, all while competed locally and internationally. Started skiing at age 6 and progressed to a member of the United States Freestyle Team, '79-80, them 82'. No big titles on that paticular tour. Did well in a lot of pro tours. First place all around on the World Professional Freestyle Tour based in California. Skiied and lived in Squaw Valley USA 11 of my 13 years in Tahoe. Finished the ski career in 85 at the Budweiser Pro Mogul World Championships at Snowbird, Utah. First place, women's.
Went back to ski and try nursing school in Reno, NV from 1986 to 1988. Commuting back and forth from Tahoe to Reno for four years. Stressful! Only made it through the 6th week of my senior year and then had to drop out.

itress. Classic job. Took a couple of classes at Fresno State in the summers. Had my dog Lady with me. Hung out with my Dad, Dr. Schwartz the pediatrician on Shields Ave.
Went to Heald's 4 C's Business College on Bullard Ave. for a quarter. Good experience. How to run a business and use computers. Never completed any school degrees, but took all of the accumlated knowledge from those experiences and became the following.
Self employed landscaper for elderly people mostly. I make and sell tie dye shirts. All of the experiences in my life have taken me to where I am today. The wins and the failures on some level, all combined, have led me to a perfect life in Santa Cruz.
Spent 12 years hanging out with my mother as much as possible in Santa Cruz where I have lived since 1990. Have been with my boyfriend/long term domestic partner since 1992. We are both landscapers living in my Mom's mobile home on the ocean. She passed on 2002. We are both kitesurfers now and previously were windsurfers. Myself for 21 years.
All is well. We cherish every day.
