Jan's Story
Life
After graduating from Mira Costa, I went to Brigham Young University (as you may recall, I was a Mormon throughout high school). After two years at BYU, I left the church and married Tim Charles, a Navajo photographer. We lived in Flagstaff, then Los Angeles, then Salt Lake. We divorced in 1981 and I moved back to Manhattan Beach and finished college at UCLA. The Lee Solters Company (publicist) and for the last 8 years, for Barnes & Noble. I started out as a community relations manager, running author events. I moved to NY and worked in the Author Promotions Dept., booking events in all our stores. I moved back last year to take the job of regional community relations manager on the west coast. I live in Westwood with my new husband of 1-1/2 years, Luke Valerio. At present, I have no animals or children. But I am nursing a novel!
