Jane's Story
We moved to Florida right after I graduated. I missed snow skiing so I converted to water skiing in college and went into trick, slalom and jumping. During the winter I skied and studied at St Petersburg Jr College and Florida Southern College. At first I was the only girl on the team, but soon we had a girls team and I became the team captain. One day Sea World called looking for a female jumper and the next thing I knew I was a show stunt skier in the Tommy Bartlett Ski Show in Wisconsin Dells for the summer. ng as a claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual, and later went into textile sales. Since I liked both sales and insurance, I started an Insurance Agency in Tampa. To help finance my business, I began teaching insurance to new students coming into the business. I went out and got companies to interview and hire my students. When State Farm came looking, I interviewed with them and was hired to became one of their agents. That was 40 years ago and I am still there today. During that time I married and have 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Last year I lost my husband of 42 years. I live in Odessa Florida on Lake Keystone which is just outside of Tampa.
