Jane's Story
Life
After graduating from high school, I went to Russell Sage College in Troy, New York where I majored in elementary education and social sciences. The month after I graduated in 1971, I married Bill, a Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduate (class of '70), and we moved to southern Jersey. I taught third grade and remedial reading and earned a master's degree in 1972. Bill graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia two years later. eted a three-year hematology fellowship at Strong Memorial Hospital and we started a family. Our son and older daughter were born there. In 1980 we moved to Williamsville, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, and had another daughter. Bill worked at the V.A. Hospital and later went into private practice as a hematologist/oncologist. He retired in 2012 and was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's the following year. Sadly, he passed away in 2018. Our son passed away at the age of 44 in November 2021. Both of our daughters live in Boston, MA and I still live in Williamsville.
