Jane's Story
Life
Upon graduation from CMU in 1975 I substitute taught in Clarkson for two years. In '77 I got a Health Education (sex and drugs) teaching job at Swartz Creek Middle School. A job that upon getting my pay check I would actually think. "Oh my God ...I get paid to do this! Taught there for 15 years. Loved it!
In 1978, I married a California boy I met at CMU. We have two beautiful, wonderful daughters. We moved to La Jolla, California in 1990. His hometown. Kids went through school there. I have many wonderful friends there that I mainly met through volunteer work at the schools. My California boy and I divorced in 2005. Moving on after 26 years of marriage. I was happy through most of it.
I moved back to Clarkston on December 18, 2004. I think it was one of the coldest days in Michigan's history. One of my daughters was huddled in the living room as the movers were moving us in with the heat turned off and all the doors open. She asked, "Why do people live here?!" ants to go to college here. The move has been a good one. Our dog likes the snow and so do we. I missed the seasons.
Mom and Dad can use some help. Housing is more affordable. Bought a little house on a great fishing lake. My brother, Eric, is teaching me how to fish. It is very relaxing and fun. It is good to be back with my brothers and the nieces and nephews and old friends. In fact one of my newphews is living with us..an added bonus. The only problem is... I walk up town and I do not recognize A SOUL!!!
I am focusing on joy. Going back to teaching... if I can get a job. I will be subbing in Clarkston. Who knows.. I just may get a job at a garden center. That would be fun. I love to garden but there was no off season in California. It was getting a bit overwhelming to keep up. A season to look at garden books and plan without weeding, watering, and fertilizing etc.looks good to me. Hope to meet up with old friends.
