2015 Update
Don't have the cats anymore both died in 2014. Don't have any pets. One of my beloved horses died from toxic feed - very horrible death. On a good note her son is alive and well and eventing at age 19 at the training level. He is ridden by my student and is currently at "school" with her at Iowa State, in Ames. I have retired from therapeutic riding teaching as I have had both knees replaced and most recently a shoulder replaced.
My Job
I have been involved in FMLA Leave and absence management for 13 years now, most recently at Sears Holdings Corporation handling claims for 220,000 employees nationwide as a member of an 11 person team. I retired from coaching an eventing team as they all graduated from the level I taught and moved to the Preliminary level.
Personal
Never married but I have a steady partner for the past 12 years. We decided long ago not to marry. We have good times and bad times but we help each other and hold each other and share the love. He's very hand around the apartment and loves to cook with me.
My family has gotten smaller and bigger at the same time. Both my parents are gone as is my brother Mark who had Down syndrome and like his mother died of Alzheimers - it was very hard going through the ravages of Alzheimer's first with my mother then my brother. The remaining clan grew the family. Tom has 2 kids an...Expand for more
d 5 grandchildren; Anita has 2 kids, a stepson and 3 grandchildren; Paul has 3 kids and a son-in-law. Went to that wedding in Maryland this summer. Happily my sister and her husband retired to Lake Forest, IL just up the road from me. It's great having her close - Finally and again. She got me through college and now will get me to retirement!
I have lived in Chicago for 40 years! I don't expect I will leave but you never now. I love the city, enjoy what it has to offer and enjoy the company of friends.
If you're ever in town look me up on facebood or here.
2017 Update
Quite a few changes to report ... I am not working at this time. I am pending disability. I'm staying with a friend until I have my left shoulder replaced. I will be in a rehabilitation facility until I secure low income housing and disability income.
I'm still in love with the horses, though I don't teach or ride. I visit my horse friends and go to horse shows and cheer them on.
Still single - just have some good friendships. Family wise, my sister now has 4 grandchildren; my oldest brother has a great-grandchild; and my brother (a member of the first graduating class at Mayo - 1967) still has no grandchildren but his middle son. got married. All three of his kds are in the bay area.
As before, I'm on Facebook and can reach me there! If you come to Chicago I can be your tour guide😊.
