Jane's Story
Well, upon graduation, I worked, fell in love and went back to school for a while - I continued pursuing music at CSM, The Blue Bear School of Music in SF and privately (vocals). Something was missing. F/T work was something to do to pay the bills and just music alone with the appropriate venues wasn't doing it. I ended up auditioning for Jesus Christ Superstar at The Little Fox Theatre, got the part of a Soul Girl and the rest is history. From then on and since, I've acted in plays and musicals (local community in the Bay Area and college productions). Around the late 90's into 2001 - I was part of a sketch troupe and then created a two woman show, acquired one of the best agents in S.F., ushered my mother from the world as her primary caregiver, stayed single and moved to New York City. I lived in Manhattan 6 months after 9/11 (about 10 minutes away from the WTC). I now live in Brooklyn, am working on a one...Expand for more
-woman rock n' soul cabaret, still single (not as crazy after all these years...well, maybe a little) and work as a recruiter for a legal search firm in Midtown. It's a great, autonomous gig that leaves room for auditions - I have an agent, I have a pretty cool life in NYC, I miss S.F., but am very fortunate to have great friends on both coasts. Still singing, actin', writing, oh and been doing stand-up for the last 2 years. It's too much fun. Have played Caroline's, Gotham, Comic Strip Live. I stay super busy, hit Broadway, Madison Square Garden and have the quintessential slice very chance I get. I have two great cats and sorry, rooted for the Yanks last night! But my heart belongs to the Giants.
Next stop: Switzerland 2010 to sing at the Ascona Jazz Festival.
Next goal: To buy a new apartment or invest in an overseas property or local business. Maybe move to L.A. (only if I get cast in my own sitcom)
