Jane's Story
Couldn't wait to get the heck out of Dodge ("Dodge" being Wilmington, DE) after BHS and UD. Married Bill Johnson from Mt.P, Wharton School, Sigma Nu and enthusiastically became a Navy Officer's wife, with all the attendant travel, adventure and upheaval (two Vietnam cruises of 8 months and 9 months duration; several family deaths to deal with alone,
other crap as well). Never regretted one minute and was very sad when it ended. Traveled and lived in many interesting places, had two wonderful, successful children, returned to DE when I realized home is best, regardless. Worked at good old BHS for nine years in the 80's and loved those years infinitely better than the miserable ones I endured in the high school 60's. Went on to live in MA a second time and went from secretary; to editorial assistant to a senior Army scientist; to a research psychologist, with an almost-Master's degree from Harvard. e only thing I miss in retirement. Son Peter is a middle school Special Ed teacher in MA; daughter Elizabeth is Associate Deputy Secretary of the Interior in Washington DC. She has two girls, Nora and Elsie. I am retired, as afore-mentioned, and do nothing except read, read, read. Reading is my passion. Bill still works, because we like his income. We have two vacation homes: a condo in an 1883 building in Newport, RI, mere steps from the Hotel Viking; and a 1973 Flamingo model TRAILER in Camelot Meadows, Rehoboth Beach, DE. I love my trailer most of all. Trailer Trash rules. We will probably retire to Rehoboth, very soon, though not to the TRAILER, delightful as it is.
2021 addendum: retired In Milton, DE, not Rehoboth. There's a tailer for sale in RB, of anyone is interested: it's kinda cute, but needs some work! Daughter Elizabeth is on track to become the DEPUTY Secretary of the Interior in Joe Biden's cabinet, pending Senate confirmation.
