Jane's Story
After graduating high school I attended and graduated from The University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education. I married after graduation and never returned north. I presently live in Inman, S.C. after moving from Powell Tn to be near our son and only grandchild (Addison).
I taught school for 25 years and raised two wonderful children; Garrett and Suzanne. Both of my children have graduated from college; Garrett from The University of Tennessee and Suzanne from San Francisco State University. In addition, I have one grandchild who is 8 years old. I have been happily married for 46 years.
Most of those who remember me would be surprised at my career choice since school was not my favorite place to be . I don't think I ever applied myself but after watching the paths so many that I knew took I decided in 11th grade to go to college so I would not end up married, pregnant...Expand for more
and working for minimum wage. It was a big surprise to my family since I had never voiced any desire to attend college. College ended up to be very challenging since I had no study skills but was also a lot of fun. Being 800 miles away from home for the first time was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I pledged ZTA and all my sisters made being away much easier. I often am reminded of Mr. Pryor (Guidance counselor) telling me I was not college material. Thank goodness I didn't listen to him.
It's amazing how one can sum up 50+years in a few paragraphs. Unfortunately, due to health problems I was unable to attend our 50th reunion. That's all for now.

It seems as though I changed my whole persona in a matter of a few months.
I guess that is a summary of my life . I am retired now and am thrilled to now live next door to my only grandchild.
