Janet's Story
I went to work for my father right out of high school and worked for him for 12 years. He manufactured lamps and accessories that sold in Ethan Allan stores. I did every job in the factory..assembly, antiquing the brass and wood, shipping, billing etc. He went out of business in the recession in 1982 and thats the year I finally settled down and got married.
I married John Deighan (who I had been dating off and on for 9 years). He was divorced with 5 children. We moved to Arlington, TX where I worked in the Holiday Inn at the airport. In 1985 we moved to Houston, TX. I went back to school there and got an associates degree in applied science. I started working for Continental Airlines in 1990 and am still with them. les, Convention Groups and Support for other Convention Sales Agents. We moved to Tampa, FL in 1992. I moved on to International Sales then and in 1993 went to Salt Lake City, UT to help program a new way of making reservations. I was there for 16 months and then returned to Tampa where I was a programmer to develop automation for Payroll, attendance, etc for the Reservations Division. After September 11, 2001, the company made many cutbacks and my job was one of them. I was lucky and was able to go back to making International reservations where I remain today. However, now I work from my home.
John is retired and we are looking forward to the time when we can both be retired and do some travel. We now have 4 grandchildren and would like to spend more time with them.
