Janet's Story
Hello to all my friends lost but not forgotten. I've always heard life flies once you graduate high school. But I had no idea it would fly this fast! I can not believe it has been over 27 years since graduation! My daughter has graduated! Yet some how, I still feel the same. Ok a little older and definately wiser. But not that different. My daughter said to me when she turned 21 this past December," Don't you feel old?" to which I replied..." I didn't get old, you caught up!"
But alas, 27 years have truely gone by. After graduation, I did the "I don't know what I wanna do thing" for 2 years. Then I finally decided on college. I went to Penn State. But i was always homesick. I came back to Fla after a year and half. I met and married my now former husband, Tom Schmidt. (Plantation High 1981) I have three daughters. Samantha (1986) Kathy Lynn (1989) and Jennifer (1991 I was 9 months pregnant at the 10 yr reunion) I got a divorce in 1997. That same year I started seeing the same man I am with today. Kevin. 72, so y'all don't know him. I also raised Kevin's two sons. Chris (21) and Mike (19). We live here in Broward, in Parkland.
During my marriage I was a stay at home Mom. (Time I will forever cherish!) But becoming a single parent, I had to go back to work. So I went back to college and became a dental assistant. I work in Boca for a busy periodontist. I do surgery all day long. I love what I do! It is very satisfying.
Over the years I have often looked through the CCHS class of 81 yearbook. So I do remember most of your faces. At least how you looked 27 years ago!
I would love to see how you look now! And hear about your lives. I sincerely hope everyone has had a smooth, happy and fulfilling last 27 years.

PS I see Mr Congemi all the time. He is the Assistant Principal at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. He and I laugh because 27 years later I still see him and have that "Oh my God there's Mr Congemi be cool!" And he was the NICE dean!! He is as sweet now as he was then! And he still looks the same!
