Janet's Story

Life I will be honest...I was tempted to update my bio with the chance of winning $10 grand. However, on reflection, I guess just connecting with "you guys" (I still have my Queens' accent) is prize enough. I am, regretfully, old; as a result, I am retired. Fortunately, however, I was able to stop working and am now living a boring life of tennis, dance classes, writing workshops and taking care of wonderful Gingee (our Portugese Water Dog). My husband, Leon, who manages to take good care of himself, and I divide our time between East Hampton NY and Bonita Springs Fl. Yes, I told you...I am extremely fortunate. We have between us three children, two contributed by Leon, with the extra bonus of four grandchildren, and one contribued by me (who, by the way, is a hardworking NYC cop protecting those of you who remained in the neighborhood) who is still unmarried. If any of you have a nice unmarried daughter 27-37 let me know; maybe we can do a bit of matchmaking. Ah, back to my bio. When I graduated Bishop McDonnell in 1965, I went to work for lawyers and continued working for lawyers for the next 35 years or so. For any of you who are lawyers, and particularly litigation attorneys, you see my retirement did not come easy. As I posted previously, after retiring I had...Expand for more
the time for my favorite hobby, writing, and published a book last year, which you may have known, did not win the Booker Award. I am a bit backward and a lot impatient, so I have not yet figured out how to post my photo. I was thinking of mailing it to Jim McCann and asking him to post it for me (if that's possible). I think the pictures are important since I did not remember most of our class until Jim was kind enough to email me a copy of our class grad picture. Then I remembered everyone. On a more sober note, I was very saddened to learn of our losses and count myself lucky to be able to sit here and write this. Enough reality! I had always kept up with my dear friend Valerie Winter (you know, the sister of Dennis) and through her, have kept up-to-date as to Yvonne Missiano's life. Recently, I was extremely thrilled to have lunch with Virginia Marchese. We had not seen each other since 1962. In fact, as I approached our meeting place, I spied an attractive brunette hesitantly approaching a rather short, fat lady..."Ah, are you..." she began to ask when I called out to her. It was great fun. I know I have over 1500 characters left before I run out of space, but I want to keep up some interest for my next update. I love Classmates for bringing us together again.
