Janet's Story
Married in 1975. Emmigrated to New Zealand in 1978. My children were born there. The children and I returned to Canada in May 1994 as my mother's husband was very ill and he passed away six months later. My husband and the family dog arrived 10 months later, after selling our sign business. My daughter has since returned to New Zealand to live and my son lives in Alberta, having graduated from University of Lethbridge. My husband is still signwriting and I work in accounts. We have just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary. One day we hope to return to New Zealand.
So now an update.....We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this year and my husband is now retired. I have one year to go!. Our daughter is now living in New West after living downunder for 12 years. As I type this Jen is doing her annual stint at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh Scotland and will be back the beginning of September. She has a full time job at a well very known computer store. nd degree, after realizing a future in Medieval History is very limited. Brad and his partner presented us with our first Grandchild in June and of course she is the cutest granddaughter ever! We are looking forward to the day when hopefully they will be back on the coast as well.
Another update - heading downunder on Feb 11/16 for a three week visit! Feels like we are going home. Hopefully we will hit some nice weather as NZ has some great beaches! Looking forward to retiring at the end of the year.
As I type this update it is May 10/16 - our 41st wedding anniversary! We had a wonderful trip to NZ. Does anyone remember Cathy Laker. She was our PE teacher when I was in Grade 9. The last time I saw Cathy was in 1982 and she was living in a place called Otorohanga. She married the local chemist - John Miller. Well I met someone on this last trip that knew Cathy and she is now living in Mt. Maunganui, which is in the area we lived. Unfortunately I was not able to call her this trip but will try and catch up with her next trip.
