Janet's Story
My story is a long one so here goes nothing: After graduating from IUP I moved to the suburbs of Cleveland to be with my parents. Hated Cleveland and hated the cold even more. Got a job as a sales rep for a Fortune 500 company in Charlotte, N.C. Moved with the Company to Greenville, S.C. and absolutely loved it! But, wait... Fate stepped in; a call from the home office in Dayton, Ohio. " You have a proven sales record and don't you also have a degree in teaching?" " Wouldn't you love to move to cold, snowy Dayton, Ohio and work at Corporate Headquarters as a Sales Trainer?" How could I say no? So, in Jan. of 1983 I left a beautiful condo in a city I loved and a job I loved for what? Well, it turned out that I loved Training as much as Selling . Over 11 years, I was able to move from sales training to management training to customer service training. I got to meet almost all 6000 employees and see most of the US. (Although traveling was hardly the highlight of this job.) The best part of the move to Dayton I have saved for last- ...Expand for more
I met the love of my life, Jim Payne.
So, in 1994 Jim and I decided to move to Southwest Florida where we had a most glorious life until the housing market went BOOM! We lived in Southwest Florida for about 17 years. I worked until 1999 when I was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition. Jim began to get ill in 2011 and we spent a year in Round Rock, Tx. with his sister and brother-in-law. He then got a job offer in Pensacola, Fl. where we spent another two years struggling with his health. Unfortunately, Jimmy passed away January of this year from a massive heart attack. We had been married 31 years.
But, wait... Fate stepped in once again and I'm back in Austin,Tx with Jim's sister and brother-in-law. I have been truly blessed many times over and cannot say I regret a thing. In fact, I'm looking forward to the second half (make that the third part) of my life!
One more thing: I would love to know where Mary Baker and Ginny Hunt are hanging out these days. Does anyone know?
I would love to hear from any of my old friends.
