Janet's Story
After graduation from PCHS I attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where I've been ever since. My parents moved from OKC to the Chicago area in 1972 and then to Fort Worth after my dad retired in 1979. I graduated with a degree in choral music education and did my student teaching but never hit the classroom again. I started in the TCU admissions office in August of '74 and spent 15 wonderful years, the last nine as Associate Dean, traveling the US and world recruiting students to attend TCU. I still get Christmas cards from kids I recruited who now have college age kids, some of whom have attended TCU. Was married from '86 to '94 and still friends with my ex who has lived overseas for the past 6 years. After "retiring" from TCU in '89 I became partners with a professional colleague to do consulting work with colleges and universities related to enrollment management, admissions and recruiting. y the College Board. I "retired" again in '96 after my mother passed away. Did some contract work at TCU with the MBA program on their software installation for about a year. One week before 9/11 I signed on to sell clothes on a part-time basis out of my home. And 8 years later I'm still doing that four times a year - doncaster.com - and enjoy the ladies who come and the flexibility of the job. I play golf (except when it's hot or cold), sing in the church choir and serve as Board President of The First Tee of Fort Worth, a youth development organization that uses golf as a mechanism to teach kids life skills and core values - thefirstteeftworth.org. It's a national organization that was founded in 1997 and we're one of over 200 chapters. It's certainly the most enjoyable volunteer job I've ever had with non-profits. We're making a difference and that's what matters. I love seeing my PC friends at our reunions and other gatherings for golf or whatever. I'm blessed with wonderful friends and look forward to our reunion next summer. Check our class website at pchs1970.org.
