Janet's Story
Life
After high school I attended and graduated from The College of Steubenville with a BA degree in Math and a minor degree in accounting. I thought I wanted to be a teacher but found out differently and ended up working as an accountant with Kobacker Stores Inc. I met my husband during my junior year of college but we didn't start dating until after I had graduated. We got married in 1979 and moved to Pennsylvania because he worked for Westinghouse there. In 1982 we were transferred to Orlando, Florida and we still live there in the same house. Our two daughters were born in 1987 and 1989 and they are our pride and joy. We lived for a short time in Alabama in 1990-1991 and then moved to Korea for 2 years in 1997. We returned in 1999 and have been here ever since. I haven't worked at a paying job since I got married but I am busy volunteering at school. at the high school. Now that both of my kids are away at college I have some free time. I still volunteer at the middle school for my dear friend, Dr. Scarlett Griffin. I also enjoy reading and sewing and watching movies. Healthwise, I've had my ups and downs. In 1996 I was diagnosed with breast cancer but it was caught early and after my mastectomy, I was fine. I am still cancer free. In 2002, I had a stroke and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Again, I arrived at the hospital in time to be treated and the only side effect of the stroke is some short term memory loss. My diabetes is under control and being treated with medication but not insulin shots. I feel very blessed to be alive and healthy. I have a strong faith in God and I know he kept me on earth for a purpose and I pray every day that he guide me toward that purpose. Feel free to check out my Facebook.
