Janet's Story
The way my professional life turned out would probably surprise all who knew me in high school.
I attended law school in California, passed the bar (1st time) and started practicing law. I became a Judge in 1990 and worked at the Anaheim District office of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board until 2012 when I transferred to the Long Beach District Office. I was the Judicial Training Officer responsible for training all the Workers' Compensation Judges in California from 2001-2005.
I was on the Board of the California Conference of Workers' Judges from 2005-2008 and again from 2008 to date. I am presently serving my third year as President of that organization.
I have been involved with the State Bar of California having served on the Executive Committee of the Workers' Compensation section of the State Bar of California from 2002 through 2014. During that time I served in various posi...Expand for more
tions, ultimately becoming the Chair of that Committee.I was recently appointed to the California Board of Legal Specialization for a six (6) year term.
I was a member of the Executive Committee of the National Conference of Administrative Law Judiciary, a Conference of the American Bar Association from 2002 to 2007. Have been a Council Member of the Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division of the ABA since August of 2008 and am now serving as Vice-Chair of that organization.
I earned 3 Certificates of Judicial Development from the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada and joined the teaching faculty in2001. have presented numerous educational programs all over the country and in Canada over the years.
Now, for the personal information........In October 2015 I moved to the beach and absolutely love it. I can come home at night, park my car in the garage and walk. Life is great!!!
