Janet's Story
How to catch you up on 45 years? Jack and I have moved within the US several times...bag, baggage, sons and dogs. On our last move we downsized a lot, having only seven suitcases. We sold everything we had...a full house and two cars. We gave our dogs to friends and we
moved out of pretentious California.
Our destination was a continent that has always fascinated us, the Asian continent. No civilized place like Japan or Thailand. We moved to northeast China that is close to Syberia and north Korea. We went to teach and ended up opening our own English training school, teaching English to children from 3 to 16 years old after school.
It has been frustrating, difficult with the red ink involved, but it has been mostly rewarding. I taught all age groups, but my most enjoyment and satisfaction has come from the 3 to 6 year olds. They are so open and willing to learn. Their progress is the most visible in a short period of time. I cannot leave a website address, but you can visit us at, (...).perfectenglishschool.(...).
We did take a couple of years from 2006 to 2008 to travel around the world on a motorcycle--actually 3 motorcycles. We traveled 80,000 km to 4 continents, encompassing 31 countries. It was great to experience the people, customs, food, aromas (some good, some not so good)...the motorcycle made everything so real and more exciting.

ll building our enrollment and strengthening our curriculum. Jack and I are finally taking more time for ourselves, trying to semi-retire. If that is possible. He just bought a Chinese motorcycle, a Chang Jiang, and we will be taking trips around China. Our adventures will never cease.
If any one is interested in visiting us, please let us know. You will love the area and especially the people. The people are what keep us here.
We just celebrated on 45th anniversary in June. We went out to a great Italian restaurant with great friends, food and wine.
Changchun is a fast growing small
city of 7 million people. They have developed so fast that they now have an IMAX theater, many foreign restaurants, foods of all kinds are readily available. I can even get coffee ice cream in soft serve. This is a big deal--my one treat that I would have to wait until I went back to the States.
I have just adopted two Schnauzer puppies that keep me pretty busy. I have been hesitant to buy any dogs here, but these are quite healthy and active.
One of my other passions has been to read all the English stories and see all the English movies that I can. I am accomplishing this. We have a large expatriate community and we share books and movies.
I have caught you up on the last 45 years. I would certainly be interested in hearing your stories.
For now zai dian--bye for now.
