Forgive the cliché, but where have the years gone? Seems like just yesterday we were fresh faced graduates walking across the stage at RLHS getting our diplomas, ready to set the world on fire. I like to think that, like fine wine, we only get better with time! Ken Olson and I married in 1972 and experienced the joys of living in poverty in married student housing at MSU. Things could only get better! I graduated with a BA in English with a teaching endorsement, and landed my first job in Choteau. Ken had earned his degree in finance and worked in Great Falls, commuting daily. Fortune smiled on us and we both found jobs in our respective fields in Helena, where we lived for the next 30 years. I taught 9th grade English at Helena Junior High and then went part-time in order to raise our family of two girls. When the girls were well into school I was hired as the public relations director for the school district. After serving in that position for two years I returned to full-time teaching at Helena High School. I taught English and Journalism and was also the advisor for the school newspaper. Ken worked for the State as ¿computer guru¿ for the Department of Labor and Industry. We both loved our jobs, but retirement beckoned us, and we turned in our time sheets three years ago. We had bought property on Swan Lake, about 8 miles from Bigfork, years earlier and decided that was where we wanted to live full time. We love the water and enjoy boating, cruising on our jet skiis, and just soaking in the sun and scenery meandering around the bay in the peddle boat.
