Janet's Story
Life
I graduated from Jones Junior College in Ellisville, MS. I moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I took a position with the State Library of Louisiana & worked there for 33 years. I retired in Sept. 2000 & moved with my husband to Colorado Springs, CO where I have encountered friendly people & a good deal of snow. My first husband died of heart problems in 1989. He was a strong christian & we had a gospel group called John 14:1. I wrote & sang my own songs with the group. It was a fantastic time in my life. In 1992 I remarried a wonderful man. I have a stepdaughter who has a 5 month old daughter who is a joy to us. Also a stepson who lives with his wife and daughter in Mississippi. I have 2 stepdaughters by my first marriage. Robin lives in Pearl, New York & Melanie in Baton Rouge. I love Colorado but Denham Springs (just outside Baton Rouge) was a wonderful place for me. I had a great church family there & miss them very much. I enjoy my church & friends here also. I lost my brother, Wayne, to heart trouble in November of 2000. It was a very sad time for us. He was only 46 & was taken suddenly. He also was a strong christian. He was an active deacon, sunday school director & sang in the choir. I know he is busy in God's choir now singing wonderful praises to Him. In March 2002 we lost my 28 year old nephew, Jeremy, my sister Carol's son, to a heart attack. ...Expand for more
That was devestating to us! I loved him dearly! He had been a marine for 5 years, serving in Bosnia a part of that time. At the time of his death he was in the army national guard and serving on Homeland security. He had just been a guard at the Super Bowl one month before he died. I know he's there in Heaven with his Uncle Wayne now & the wars & tribulations of this world can no longer touch Him. When we live in the Lord we will meet again someday in Heaven and I cling to that promise! I have lost my mother and dad. Dad over 20 years ago & mother just 11 years ago. However, the years have been good to me & I was rewarded with a great job, many friends & lots of happiness in this life. One of the highlights of my life was going on a mission trip to Japan and meeting some very wonderful people there who touched my life in such a positive way. I miss the people I worked with & the patrons whom I served daily in Baton Rouge. I was a reader's advisor for blind & handicapped people throughout the state of Louisiana. I also supervised the other Reader's Advisor's & they were all dear to me. I am working once again full time, in a christian organization here in Colorado Springs. I enjoy my work very much and the people I now work with. They are a blessing. In high school I was shy and insecure but God brought me through all that to the person I am today. God bless you all.
