Janet's Story

Blogger at Wordpress, "My Hope For America Under God" -RESUME- Jan Worthen- I. INTRODUCTION I am currently retired, yet, am a Christian writer, blogger and a conservative who tries to exemplify the great history of America, our Founding Father’s, with Biblical context, combined. I have had over 30 years of work experience in business and non profits, which have given me a vast knowledge. That knowledge, has enabled me to apply to the business/political sector in that which I write. Everything I did in the past gave me training to expand with my own studies; both Christian and history to inform the reader. I have 30 years too, of Christian study since my salvation, in 1982, and I found the sales experience enabled me to evangelize through my work, and be a Christian witness. II. QUALIFICATIONS .Writer of 2 self-published books . 20+ Years of Computer Experience . Public Relations . Customer Service . Set up Seminars . Personnel Training . Able to Prioritize Projects . Office Management . Telephone Sales Proficient With People . 100% Accuracy in Record Keeping . Act Well as a Liaison . Organizer, Completes Projects III. EXPERIENCE LEGISLATIVE SERVICES, CONCORD, NH IN THE 1970’S Enabled me to see first hand how our House and Senate Bills are formulated, working with staff attorney’s to finalize so they can come up with a vote. Government in action made a tremendous impression on me at that time, whereby, I understand wholeheartedly when arguments over bills hit the news, giving me greater expertise in my writing. NH DENTAL SOCIETY, CONCORD, NH, FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM, AND EASTER SEAL were a few of the non-profits I worked for, enabling me to see first hand what is entailed with lobbying for Government monies and the importance of fund raising. NH Dental was a group with most dentists as members in the State, which is where complaints are made for mal-practice, etc. Foster Grandparent had elderly work in schools on a stipend, to assist teachers, and help children, sometime with problems. Easter Seal, as everyone knows helps those with learning disabilities, and also includes a barrage of fundraising. They all provide a valuable service to those in need, following Federal Action guidelines. NH INSURANCE, MUTUAL OF NEW YORK, were a couple of the insurance companies I worked for. At the time, too, I was studying for my agents license to go into Life Insurance. Circumstances changed at the time, and I worked in in-house sales. Worked also with uncollectible audits between home office, collection agencies, attorneys, and debtors. Entailed a lot of legal data, interrogatories, bankruptcies and litigation procedures. DUNFEY CORPORATION, At the time was the home Corporate office for the Hotel Chains, in NH, and around the US. I worked, as an inside sales representative and Assistant, and later also worked for one of their properties, in Houston Texas, the Royal Couch. IV. EDUCATION . Hesser College both in the 50’s and 60’s. NH College, Real Estate Course . Notre Dame College, NH . Clint Brake School of Life &Health Insurance. Most important – single mom for 28 years . V. PERSONAL INTERESTS I am an accomplished artist in oils, though semi retired from it as they have just become too burdensome to handle now. Most of my paintings are displayed on my Facebook page. I have been painting since I was 16 (now in my 70’s) In college I studied a lot of the great artists, and was always drawn to the impressionists. Loving history as I do, I am an avid reader of mostly US history and Biblical. I excelled in Ancient Civ in college, and loved it, now tying to my Christian -Biblical teachings. I have written two self-published books, and am seriously thinking of another. I would love to write fiction, but, it may have passed me by. From all my blogs, I have plenty to use as chapters in another book. I am a student of end-time prophesy as well, and like to tie in to our current political worldly events. I love creative endeavors, and know God has used me through a lot o f what I have endured and gone through in my life. Every once in...Expand for more
awhile, I still get a phone call or note from someone who picked up one of my books, and told me how much it blessed them. That is wonderful to hear! I am also a tennis buff. Merely a bystander, but, I love to watch the games. DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION RESUME Janet Worthen member Molly Stark Chapter, NH, since 2010. Regent New Boston Chapter, NH 2007-2008 ; Was born March 16, 1939, daughter of Elgin Fremont and Elsie Worthen in Manchester, NH. My father was an electronic engineer, and at 8 years old had my picture with a neighbor in the Manchester Union Leader when my father had the 1st tv in NH in 1948. He also had a booth at the NYC Worlds Fair in 1939, an innovator and visionary in sound. Her father’s sister Ima, also a DAR member in Molly Stark Chapter and Registrar was instrumental in her joining. Ima also wrote young in the 30’s and 40’s under the pen name of Nina Gordan, published poetry and lyrics to sheet music, as well as an artist. She later worked for a Judge in Goffstown. Young, I was in Rainbow Girls and a long time member since childhood of South Main St. Church, then and now, although a member Faith Christian Center in Bedford during the 80’s and 90’s for 16 years, now evangelical. I attended the Manchester School systems, and graduated from West High School. While in High School, and after, attended Hesser College, secretarial and business courses. Later I attended Notre Dame College majoring in art. I was a PTA member in the 70’s. I campaigned and always donated time to political candidates, and served in church projects throughout the years. I served as DAR ,VIS Chairman, Yearbook and Supplement Chairman, Chairman for the State DAR on Women’s Issues 2007-10, Constitution Week, Chairman Bylaws Committee (2007), Flag of the USA, also donating a large flag to this Chapter. I donated a huge scrapbook of photos and family history including birth certificates etc, to Molly Stark Library in honor of her Aunt Ima Worthen, Registrar there in the 70’s. I also donated large picture frames of both family history and photos of my Dad and lineage, as well as the painting and newspaper photo ops to both Manchester and Goffstown Historical Societies. The Major Ezekiel Worthen lineage was chosen for our State Regents Project, Our Proud Heritage. The Worthen lineage is also on both Genealogy.com and Ancestry.com, with photos of cemetery stones that are very old, added to the virtual cemetery on-line. I took the office of regent, continuing the struggle to carry on the Chapter’s goals. During the summer of 2007, this Regent found out that we needed to update and redo the bylaws, whereby, she headed a committee, set up, and after, for the first time since 1996; also working with the State Parliamentarian, new bylaws were passed by vote and printed. During the fall meetings we had speakers from both the New Boston Historical Society and the Goffstown Historical Society, much of which hadn’t been heard before, especially by our newer members. We always give a gift at Christmas to a Veterans cause, such as Wounded Warrior, USO etc. Our State Regent, Sarah Voll’s Project Patriot, for all chapters, led to Major Ezekiel Worthen’s biography sent to her after a vote, since he was from NH. We gave out our Good Citizen Awards, and Community Service Awards, gave to our normal causes such as the Children’s Attic as well. This Regent also served as State Chairman for Women’s Issues for 2008-2010 during Mrs. Voll’s reign as State Regent. During the April meeting, our guest speaker was Professor Frank Mitchell, from UNH speaking on Community Conservation Planning” . Serving also as VIS chairman a new website for our chapter. I also served as Yearbook and Supplement Chairman, which is putting our yearly Chapter booklets together. With that, it has been challenging suffering from severe arthritis, although thoroughly enjoying all aspects, including typing out this history and using my talents as writer (artist) in these capacities as well as the Yearbook. In 2010, I transferred to Molly Stark Chapter, semi-retired, due to extensive arthritic and spine pain. However, it is the Chapter in which my aunt too, was a member, and I have donated records etc, to their library, as well as contributed to both the Goffstown, and Manchester, NH Historical Society, and the Genealogy records at UNH and Genealogy Societies.
