Janet's Story
Life
It's hard to believe it's been over 50 years since I graduated from Mackenzie, and now it;s torn down. How sad! Some of our classmates were able to get some bricks and some of those beautiful Pewabic Tiles and have donated them to the Raffle we have at the Mackenzie 50s-60s Picnic. It's held each year in late summer. Hope you've checked out the website at classcreator.com/detroit-MI-mackenzie-1960. I've been a widow since 1995 and have 1 son and a new granddaughter. I've lived in a couple of different states, but am back "home" in Michigan and living in Livonia. Retired early and love every minute of it...traveling, gardening, going to movies. ...Expand for more
I especially love to travel. In 2010 I went on a pilgrimage to see The Shroud of Turin and the Passion Play in Oberramagau, Germany. The Passion Play is only done once each decade. More recently I was in Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia for a month and soon I'll be heading to Turkey for a few weeks. This past winter I was in San Francisco, visiting my son, his wife, and granddaughter. I don't belong to classmates, so cannot see any messages, but I would love to hear from Class of '60 classmates, on the classcreator website I mentioned above. OR join your Mackenzie classmates at our annual picnic for those of us who attended Mackenzie in the 50s and 60s!
