Janet Gant:  

Life Actually graduated from High School in Florida, missing our Senior year together. Married since 1973. Mother of two, grandmother of three. Finished Nursing degree in 1987. Have moved nine times, lived in five states, since marriage. The renovation of our 75-year-old home in Pennsylvania takes most of our time and we have added RV'ing to our hobbies. Have now added a sixth state to our list of relocations. Currently living outside Peoria, Illinois, and hoping to return to the East Coast. Miss the South in so many ways. And we are way too far away from family and friends. We'll add a seventh state to the list this year moving to Baton Rouge, La. I'll miss the cooler summers here in Illinois, but it won't take me long to appreciate the mild winters of the Gulf Coast. Having lived in Houston for 7 years, I know family and friends are more likely to visit us in Louisiana than Illinois. I'm now a full-time caregiver for my mom. She worked for the Daily Southerner while I was growing up. My brother passed away in 2006, so our family dynamic is really starting to change. We were in our home less than two weeks before Hurricane Gustav hit us here in Prairieville, La. We are now the proud owners of a generator and sizable stash of gas cans.
