Janet's Story
It is hard to believe that the Class of 69 graduated 40 years ago. I have been meaning to write a quick update about myself ever since Barbara Horvath told me about this site but as usual, time gets the best of you and it kept getting pushed to the bottom of the "to do list." So here I am finally doing it. It has been quite a life for me. I graduated from Glassboro State College, got married, taught for 3 years in New Jersey then moved to Arizona and have been here ever since. After a few years of teaching in Phoenix, getting my Masters degree, having a son, getting divorced I then became a middle school principal. Believe it or not, I was a principal for 20 years. It was a wonderful career and I enjoyed most of it. A few of the highlights were - having the school being recognized by the US Department of Education as a National School of Excellence; having my son attend the school; earning my Doctorate at Arizona State University; teaching at ASU; and being selected as one of the top 4 principals in the US in 2000. I retired from being a principal and now work as the Adm...Expand for more
inistrator for Professional Development in the largest K-8 school district in Arizona. I train new administrators and teachers who want to be school administrators and do a variety of other things in this role at the district. It has been a fun change these past 3 years and I really enjoy the position. My son Jacob no longer lives at home but our homes are only a few miles apart so we get to see each other and do things together quite often. I thought the empty nest was going to be hard, but it really wasn't. So now it is Reggie (my dog) and I in my newly remodeled home and I like it. Things are always the way I leave it. My social life has always been a lot of fun too. I have been able to travel throughout the United States (the only state I haven¿t been to is Alaska); Mexico (Cabo San Lucas is my favorite); and have spent time in England, Holland, Belgium and France and would love to go back to Europe. The people in my life like to do a variety of things so all I can say is Life is Good!!!
I would love to hear from any and all of you so let me know how you are doing!!!
