Janet's Story
Life
After college I went to graduate school to get my teaching credentials. I became an elementary school teacher. I worked in private schools because public schools weren't hiring. I had great experiences but decided that I wanted to jump to something more lucrative. After more college, I became a programmer. I worked in several banks and brokerage houses in NYC. Because of true networking, I ended up as a clinical trials programmer (BA in biology qualified me for this). Professionally, I have been going back and forth between computers and training people about them. I started my own consulting company (Left Hand Computing) and had been doing consulting work for a few years. I took a permanent job with a software company where I had the opportunity to combine my creativity from my teaching days with my technical knowledge from my programming days. During this time, I was also able to train people how to use technology in the best way. It is not a training position but the closest thing there is to it. Lots of changes in my profession have been interesting and rewarding. For me, there is nothing greater than learning something new and sharing it with others.

he banking industry I met a very special person. I can honestly say that I married my soulmate and we have been together for many years. He is my companion and my best friend. We love to travel, go to the theater and spend time with friends, lots of friends.
Recently, we made a big move. With all of the parents gone, we decided that we wanted to live in San Diego. My husband was stationed there when he was in the Navy. He brought me back almost every year to see San Diego through his eyes. I fell in love with it too. No Florida or Arizona for us. We live downtown and can walk all over the place. We are across from where Little Italy begins with tons of nice restaurants and terrific people. It is amazing how many people from NY and CT have migrated here and have similar backgrounds to us. Of course, my NY accent always gives me away, but it is always nice to meet some east-coasters.
Because of the pandemic, it has been difficult to get back to the east to visit family and friends. I try to keep in touch as much as possible and still have some life long friends from Bayside HS. So, if you remember me from high school and are visiting in San Diego, contact me and we can have a drink and reminisce.
