Janet's Story
After graduating from Springfield High School in the class of 1969, I attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, where I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education in 1973. After my sophomore year there, my family moved to Morton, Illinois, where my father became the Superintendent of the Morton School District (after having been one of the Associate Superintendents for the State of Illinois when we lived in Springfield).

ught a total of 9 years before our son, Andrew, was born in 1982 followed by the birth of our daughter, Elizabeth, in 1984. It was 12 years after Andrew was born before I returned to full-time teaching at WCGS for a total of 24 years teaching grades 4, 5, and 6. My husband, Roger, is now the school counselor and assistant principal, and he is beginning his 42nd year there this fall!
I have been enjoying my years of retirement these past 6 years. I have several piano students who come to my house on a weekly basis. I have played the organ for services in many different area churches as well as for weddings. I also am a small-group leader for the Women's Bible Study at our church (College Church just across the street from Wheaton College) where over 200 women gather weekly. It is such a joy to study God's Word and pray for each other with other women who are becoming life-time friends.
