Janet's Story
Life
Hello-
I am married (15yrs), I have 4 daughters, 3 stepdaughters and 11 grandchildren (who are a delight to us). Having a big family was not in the plan I had for my life but has turned out to be a blessing. Our last daughter graduated in 2006 and moved out on her own so we are alone! What an adjustment. The only dog we had died this year too. So...we are enjoying alone time and the freedom!
My husband (Larry) and I are both nurses and I work at the Chelan Douglas Health District (22 yrs) and Larry works in the cardiology unit at the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center.
Of our seven daughters, one lives in Longview, Wa., one in Washington, DC, and the other five live here in Wenatchee with 7 out of the 11 grandchildren. So we are always bus...Expand for more
y with them too.
Workplace
My first job was waitressing at Siraco's Restaurant in Wenatchee (which is gone now) but that served as a really good training field for my future. I was taught how to work hard and develop good work ethics. The owners were very particular and were wonderful to me and my family. After going to college and getting my nursing degree I worked at the hospital (old St. Anthony's) in differing positions from newborn nursery, medical floor to a step down unit from intensive care. Then later I worked at Cashmere Convalescent center for a little over a year as a charge nurse and medication nurse. I took a break then started to work at the health district as a public health nurse in 1985. I have been there for 21 plus years.
