Janet's Story
I married a local Lynwood boy, Ken Evans, in 1969. We celebrated our 40th anniversary this year. I met Ken when I was a senior at So Gate High and we married 5 yrs later. Ken & I have two sons. Our oldest boy, Greg, was our outstanding athlete and he played all the sports plus college basketball. Greg married 7 yrs ago and blessed us with a beautiful granddaughter, Savannah. Greg & Carol are hoping for another child. Our younger son, Jeff, was our "Special Needs" child who graduated in the Special Ed program. Jeff was involved in the Special Olympics and other programs. Jeff moved into a group home, close to us, when he was 22 yrs old and enjoys his job & social life there. We experienced two very different roads to travel with our two boys. Our lives were enriched by these experiences.

I retired last year in 2008 as a property mgr for a real estate co. I worked for them for 28 yrs. I am now going to work part time for them one or two days a month in my retirement.
I sure love retirement! We moved to Huntington Beach 7 yrs ago and enjoy living near the beach. I'm keeping myself busy with yoga, step & aerobic classes, line dancing, gardening, walking to the beach, riding bikes and some volunteer work with special needs adults & kids. It's also nice to have more time to get together with friends. I enjoy e-mailing & keeping in touch with friends, family & classmates. I also enjoy traveling more now. We went on a Mediterranean cruise for 2 weeks last yr. That was our first cruise. Most of all I enjoy spending time with our granddaughter. Life is good.
