Janice's Story

After we graduated I headed for Florida State University where I was an Art major. After two years I went home for the summer and became an artist for a novelty company in Miami. I was already to go back to school to finish when I met the man I married. I became a homemaker and enjoyed keeping my home and all that goes with that including having two daughters. In 1980 I remarried again to my husband of 30 years. My children were small when we married and his two daughters were high school and college age. My husband loves to tell that he became the father of a harem. We have enjoyed a good 30 years. We have two grandchildren 7 years old now and one is a girl and one is a boy! There probably won't be anymore so we are glad to have one of each kind! Of course, they are the apple of our eyes and are only 3 months apart in age. ( They are the children of my daughters.) We are fortunate to have them all close in the Tampa Bay area. Its a long story, but I met my husband in Winter Haven where he practiced law. I became a graphic artist before I met him and became the Art Director of a large ...Expand for more
retail company that had their home offices in Winter Haven. We retired in 1991 and moved to our beach house in St. James City Florida so my husband could fish! We stayed on Pine Island for 4 years but decided it was a little too remote to be our forever home so we moved to Treasure Island to be closer to our girls. During the time in Pine Island we had a motor home and traveled the southwest for an extended time. We also love to go to football games and see the Florida Gators play most of their games. He is a graduate of University of Florida and we have been going to their games for 30 years. He is always glad to see FSU win too except when they play the Gators! We have been fortunate to have traveled to Egypt, London, Alaska, the Bahamas and other places in between! My husband is dealing with Alzheimer's now. It has come on very slow and he is so brave and kind and has really given it the best fight he can. We are doing everything we can to keep him going. It is a terrible disease. Its so hard to see a brilliant man go through something like this. Pray for us as we travel down this road.
