Janice Skalicky:  

Life A big HELLO and a HUG from Janice. Long time since the wonderful 70's. Those good 'ole days. Well, most of them were good. haha! In 1972, I married Kenney Barbare & in 1974 we had Shawn. I went back and finished night school, I made almost straight A's. OH YES I DID. After 17+ years of marriage, we divorced. 1992, was a great year for Shawn & I. He and his high school senior Auto. partner William Attaway competed in The SC Chrysler Trouble-shooting competion and WON. They are the Only ones from NHS.to Ever WIN. They won an all-expenses paid trip to the Nationals in Detroit,Michigan. With Mr. Raymond Ruff, their teacher, they placed 11th in the Nationals and that made Newberry very Proud. Mama(Me) PROUD too! After Shawn graduated in 1992, I married my soul mate, Mark Skalicky (from Chicago). I moved to Greenville and then my Family expanded instantly. I inherited 2 little girls, that Mark had custody of and we became a happy family of 5. Mark is employed with Metromont Prestress and thats about 5 minutes from where we live. I'm a domestic goddess and have been since I moved to Greenville and became a new Mama to Amber & Amelia. Shawn graduated from Greenville Tech in Automotive Technology and is employed at Saturn of Spartanburg. He taught Auto Mechanics at Newberry Career Center for 2 years, and after Saturn's "can't turn down" pleas for him to return & work for them, and not much $ to be made teaching he returned to Saturn. Amber graduated from Newberry High School. She became a Bulldog, when Shawn was teaching at the Career Center. She loved playing softball, volleyball and Basketball for NHS. She was the creme of the Oreo in Basketball. ha! She won THE LOUISE BUZHARDT Sportsmanship Trophy at NHS. We are So Proud of her. Amber is also now a University of South Carolina Alumni. Amelia, is a Senior at The University of South Carolina and she will become a Teacher. In Kindergarten, she came home everyday and taught her stuffed animals what she learned.
