Janice's Story

After living in Santa Cruz for more than 20 years, my husband, Russ and I sold our home, our business, packed up the car and moved to South Florida. No more fog rolling in, no more drizzily rain, we now have only two seasons, warm and hurricane. You can take the girl out of Moss Landing, but you can not take Moss Landing out of the girl, I just work near the ocean on the Atlantic now. I work as an administrative assistant for the president of a Marine fabrication company. We do custom modifications on boats and yachts. I love my job. My daughters and grandchildren live close by. Christin, the eldest, is a teacher, and is going for her master's degree. She would like to teach Colonial History at the college level. Sara, is a medical technician, and is in the midst of trying to decide if...Expand for more
she wants to become a surgical tech. Our granddaughters are 8 and 10, the youngest wants to be an artist, is very talented, she has already had some of her work at a gallery in Jupiter, the older girl want to be a Marine biologist. They both make my heart happy. One of my very favorite things to do since moving here is to drive the hour up to Space Coast and watch the shuttles take off from Cape Canaveral. Each and every time I am awe struck and amazed at the sight of that much power. I also love when friends are passing through or who actually come to Florida on vacation call, and we are are able to meet somewhere for dinner. The one thing I do miss about California, is seeing my sister and her family and the dear friends that we left behind. Our visits now are too few and far between.
