Janice's Story
Life
After graduating from SLHS I spent 4 years at Eastern Michigan University where I earned a bachelors degree in nursing. I married my high school sweetheart, Jeff Martin, after dating 8 years! We have been happily married for 25 years now. I worked 6 years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital before starting a family. I decided to stay home until 2001 and now work part time as a nurse. Jeff and I have three daughters. Jennifer is in her third year at CMU, Kim is a freshman at MSU and Katie is a Senior in high school. We live in Canton, MI with our girls and a yellow labrador named Lucky. I love to bowl, golf and play bunco with a great group of friends that I have.
School

College
I started EMU in the fall of 76. I graduated in December 1981 with a bachelors degree in nursing. I met my friend Cheryl (Edwards) Horgan as a freshman and we remain best friends today. Cheryl and I both graduated from the nursing program and worked at St. Joes in Ypsilanti. I also stay in touch with another classmate, Janet (Oliver) Brannen who now lives near Toronto. Cheryl and I now work together in Plymouth.
Workplace
I began working at St. Joseph Mercy hospital right out of college in 1981. I worked there until 1987 when I had my first child. I took a break to raise my kids and returned to nursing recently. I work part time in a small nursing home in Plymouth, MI. I get to make my own schedule, pretty much working when I want as long as the job gets done. I also work with friends from school and my early days at St. Joes. It's a great job!
