Janice's Story

My story... After high school I went to Oakland U for two years, but got married in '70 when my fiance' (Bob Cox) got home from the service. We were married for 23 years and had a son, Michael, and a daughter, Rebecca. I now have 3 grandkids and LOVE spending time with them. I sold my house in 2005 and moved in with my mom (in the same house I grew up in), who was 90 at the time. She is still doing very well and we just celebrated her 95th birthday. I went back to school in 1993 and graduated with a BBA in 1996. I've been working in human resources at Answering Service, Inc. (also in Southfield) since then. Trying to keep Mom's many flower beds up, the house 'sort of' clean, the bills paid, oh yeah, and working full time, keeps me pretty busy. I...Expand for more
also enjoy working with the kids at my church on Sundays, and I still enjoy singing, too. Weekends generally find me hosting a couple of grandkids as I work hard at spoiling them. It is amazing how fast the time has gone. I know we have always heard that from our folks, but when it hits on a personal level, WHEW! So far I've had a great life. There have been some rough spots, but I've been really blessed with wonderful friends. I'm jealous of those of you who left Southfield and have lived an exotic life, but it's also been good to stay close to my family. It's also been great that my lifelong BFF Suzy Kent Grecu has also stayed pretty close to home, so I've still got a 'partner in crime!' Thanks Suzy! And thanks Grant for putting up with me!
