Janice's Story
I went to nursing school at Youngstown State University in Ohio and Sharon Regional, PA.
Graduated as a Registered nurse, moved to Hawaii for three years married in 1973 to Bill. Two children Margi and Will. We moved back to the mainland, ended up in Warren, Ohio until 1993.
We sold our large home, packed up the whole family in our Conestoga wagon (Astrovan and u-haul ) and moved West for family adventures. The Oregon Trail. I continued to work as a hospital float and Orthopedic nurse. Lucky for me as I have had two knee replacements and a hip. Nursing is hard on your joints. So are 12 hour shifts.
We live on a five and a half acre ranch in the beautiful Willamette Valley with our daughter and her family. Our son is near by in Portland.
Margi, our son in law Scott is a member of Star Wars 501 Legion . They have two children Owen age 11 And Teal 8.
We are just 60 miles from the Pacific ocean and two and a half hours from Mt Hood ( where they filmed The Shining)
We have a Navy ship reunion in October in P...Expand for more
rovidence Rhode Island the beginning of October so will not be able
to attend the reunion. I get to Chicago
Once or twice a year to visit family but the timing will not be right.
Last month ( February) I was officially retired from nursing. Bill and I will celebrate 45 years of marriage in May.
He is my best friend and a great kind man, love of my life.
I do not know what has happened to any of my classmates since 1968.
Life has gone by with such a blur.
I feel young at heart but it is hard facing age 68 at the end of Summer 2018.
I am sure we all feel it. Can it really be fifty years? So many things have changed at Foreman.
And that is my story in a nutshell.
Fondly, Janice Halatek Kane
Reunion with the Navy in October to New England was great. Now some craft shows. I mastered the art of making faux sea glass items and I will do some Christmas craft shows.
We love living in Oregon. It's so green and lush, beautiful!
Please post pics of the reunion. Also does anyone have a list of classmates who have passed?
