Janice's Story
Janice is from El Paso, Texas where she attended Ysleta High School. She later attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a degree in education with specializations in math, earth science, social studies, and gifted education. She has two Masters degrees from Aurora University and Rockford College and did research on twice-exceptional learners, curriculum design, reading in content areas, and testing structures. She taught in Bryan ISD before moving to IL and began teaching in Indian Prairie School District 204, She is also the president of the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS).
Jann's interests include her sons, daughters-in-laws, grandchildren, geology, environmental issues, history, Texas Aggies, San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers, & Dallas Cowboys, and travel.......l...Expand for more
ots of travel. Music artists she particularly enjoys include Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Garth Brooks, Mark Chesnutt, Clay Walker, The Judds, Enya, The Beatles & Norah Jones. Books she recommends include A World Lit Only by Fire, Fast Food Nation, The Covenant (novel) and A Wrinkle in Time (children's novel). Movies she finds particularly worthy of watching again and again include Now, Voyager, The Sound Of Music, The Seventh Seal, & Random Harvest. TV shows she likes include Blue Bloods, The Big Band Theory, Turner Movie Classics & Poldark.
Jann still loves to sing, and she has sung in a musical group or two most of her adult life. She continues to collect rocks and minerals from around the world and spends a lot of time volunteering, and going to musicals and opera whenever she can.
