Janine's Story
College
I have an A.S. in Laboratory Science form George Washington University, a B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science from UC Berkeley, a California Multiple Subjects Credential with CLAD from Cal State Hayward, and attained a MAED in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. I hope to start on a Master's in Administration in the new future in order to attain a school principal position.
Workplace
I am currently a California State credentialed teacher working in a small parochial school. I taught a self-contained sixth grade class for the past nine years, but am currently venturing into junior high. I am now the eighth grade homeroom teacher, and I teach grade 8 religion, language arts and history, as well as grade 7 language arts and history. My teaching practices employ the use of a variety of technology and differentiated instruction. I am truly blessed to work in a school with a supportive and caring faculty, and wonderful children and parents. arterly glossy newsletter (I love taking photos of school activities!). During this past 2006-07 school year, I was responsibe for chairing our accreditation and writing the school's self-study, from which we were awarded a six-year review. YIPPEE!!!
I cannot imagine a life void of interactions with children. God willing, I shall continue serving the children of my community for many more years.
Military
My nine-year active duty service began with Navy Basic Training for enlisted members in Orlando, FL, from July -September, 1976. Then I headed to Great Lakes, IL, for three months of hospital corps school. My first assignment was at the naval hospital at NAS Jacksonville, FL, for 14 months, followed by 3 months of basic lab school at Oakland, CA and then I returned to Florida for another year. I transferred to Bethesda, MD, for another year-long lab course and met my adorable husband, Ron. We were married a few months later and then I transferred to the naval hospital in Oakland, CA for a 4.5 year tour. Three of my children were born there while I was on active duty. I served 6 years reserve duty and was happy to separate from the Navy before the political wars in the Gulf during George Bush I regime.
