Janine's Story

MY STORY: I have lived my life by the Robert Frost poem, "The Road Less Traveled", and have never been disappointed. The Moral of this story should come first....Never give up on your dreams; your heart always knows the way - learn to listen to it! Now, to explain.... In high school, found an absolute sweetheart, and dated him for a few months my senior year. I was too immature to realize what I had found...Yousa. Isn't that always the way it goes? My Danny and I met through the community chorale that we were both in (thanks to my Nana and his Mom), and having musicians hearts, we clicked immediately. We sang together, played music together, talked til all hours...so many firsts for me. Feeling over my head by the intense overwhelming emotions I felt at only 18 years old, I pushed him away, wanting time to "grow up" but heart knew he was the one......and what do you know? I know this will sound like a commercial, but it's true....Classmates.com changed my life! I lost touch with Danny when he moved in Philly, and thought it was over. I looked for him for years...through friends, old school-mates, and several times on Classmates.com...still hoping, praying, that he was still out there somewhere... As the ink was drying on my divorce papers (LOL), I decided to try again, and logged in to this site, like many other times, to try to find Danny, or one of his old friends...and there he was! I screeched and cried and laughed (must have looked like I needed the medication, not my ex...LMAO), and wanted to contact him...but after all these years, would he remember? I told myself, that someone as sweet and wonderful as Dan would surely be married and have a half dozen little "G's" running around....but I finally got up the nerve to email him through Classmates.com. He emailed me back that night, and that was it! He never married, never had kids...just never found the "right one". Guess he knew, too. Three months later, we were engaged. After almost 20 yrs lost, Dan and I married in November 2006, just 8 months after sending that life changing message through Classmates.com. Fate is stranger still....I introduced one of my best friends since high school to Dan's older brother shortly after we reunited in 2006. Lori fell in love with Glenn, and got engaged within 2 weeks of Dan and I. They were married in Dec 2006 about 6 weeks after us. So, after living like sisters for over 20 years, my best friend became my sister-in-law! Isn't that cool?. We bought our first home in Maple Shade, NJ in 2008. We live with my 2 sons from my first marriage, and our newest pride and joy, Declan Wyatt, born in October 2008....so life really does begin at 40! Now our little family of 5 (plus our cat, Georgie) is as happy as can be, and I have found what I have been looking for all my life.... Since we are avid karaoke nuts (go figure, since we both love to sing), we can be found at any of the local, and not s...Expand for more
o local, karaoke joints in South Jersey, Philly, and beyond! (we did it in Baltimore and San Diego, too!). If you ever see or hear us, come say 'Hi"! CHANGES and LOSS 2005 brought one of the darkest days of my life...the death of my light in the darkness after an ugly separation and divorce....I lost my dear, sweet, best friend and kindred spirit, Marc Orlow, to a heart attack at 36 yrs. old. I miss you, Shizzle!!! I thank God, for letting me be there with him in his last moments here. Six months later, my dear friend and co-worker, Lisa Adair was killed in a drunk-driving accident. I was stunned...but we all are thankful that her then 5-year old daughter survived. I'll never forget hanging at Pop's place in South Philly and those potato pies (damn, they were hot). Miss you, Philly-Gurl!!! IN 2007, my niece, little Celina Joy was born, but was only destined to visit with us here on this earth for 35 days. In that time, all who knew her were touched, and we were all reminded of the incredible gift of life, and to cherish every moment.... Not a day goes by without all 3 of you in my thoughts and heart... SCHOOL DAYS The teacher that inspired me the most in HS, was Ms. Smith, and her teaching on the "'ism's". I learned more about myself, my core beliefs and the world in one year with her...THANKS MRS. S, wherever you are... In college? Hands down, Dr. Clarence (Clancy) Miller. What a sweetie...taught me to NOT be ashamed of my voice, sing from my heart, soul & my gut, be confident enough to face my fear of crowds to sing...and share my songs, even if only for a little while. Funniest memories? Watching Mike Reilly and Joe Turner put Lisa Hammond into the mail box across the street from my house on Belmont back in the 9th grade during the "GREAT WATER FIGHT" (my neighbors hated us after that day)...LOL. Besides, poor, little Lisa was the only one that would fit in the mail box anyway!!!!! Happiest moments included performing in the National Choir Competition in Anaheim, CA with the HTHS Girl's Madrigals under Mrs. Russ & winning TWO silver medals my senior year... Driving to Ocean City every weekend with Donna & Michelle, the Louis Shearer Chorale (where I met my hubby), and performing with the Glassboro State Choir in NC in 1987. I have a lot of regrets...would LOVE a "do-over"!!! Especially in regards to my EX. However, some things and people I would never change. I would be stronger and bolder, less self-conscious, sing like it was my last song ever, and would never have let ANYTHING get between me, and my very special friends...so many years. I miss you all, and hope that this thing helps you find me again. Remember...WHAT IS MEANT TO BE, WILL BE. Fate is a faithful animal...be patient and vigilant...and never give up. Love like it is your last day...Live like there is no tomorrow. I did, and I am happier than I have ever been in my life!!!! Love to all & God Bless, Neeners XOXOXO
