Janis's Story
I can't believe it is nearly 50 years since we processed onto the football field for graduation. The years have flown by.
After graduation I went to Bellevue Nursing school. I left in the middle of my second year to get married and have my oldest son. My husband Dan was still in college and working. We raised 4 kids [2 NY boys and to NJ girls] in various homes --Long Island, Wayne, NJ; Minnetonka, MN and Thousand Oaks, CA. We still live in Thousand Oaks and plan to remain here.
We have our own consulting business in engineering, marketing and media. I am the 'Jill of all trades'! I handle all the Go-fer activities as well as the editing and data entry for the business. Retirement seems to be an oxymoron when coupled with our name. So I guess one day we will be found at our desks -- covered in dust with the phone ringing off the hook!
My personal joy [other than our 10 grandkids] has been in the various business trips we ...Expand for more
have made. We have been to Asia, Europe, Africa/the mid-east and all over the US. This part of my on-going education has been wonderful. [ I keep thinking I should write a book or journal called "Travels with the Joneses". It would be a real comedic-relief piece.]
We are particularly involved with our church [the Episcopal church]. I have been very active in lay ministry, lay reading and a program from the University of the South in Sewanee called Education for Ministry. I coordinate that program in the Diocese of Los Angeles and have Mentored a group for the last 15 years.
I am ever grateful to the wonderful education I received at MHS. It has prepared me in ways I am still discovering for the various tasks before me. What a great foundation. Not all schools/districts or states are as good as what we received.
Now you know more about me than you ever wanted to. I hope this is worth your time [which is very precious].
