Janis's Story
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Susan Elias, because she loved everyone and I would like my granddaughter (Victoria, age 5) to meet her because I think they are alike in that way..
I am obsessed with making using marijuana legal for adults.
I would love to see my eighth grade teacher again, Mrs. Adele Lewis, because she gave us a writing assighnmernt which I plagarized and she gave me an "A" and that was the worst punishment! Also she liked spelling bees and I remember misspelling "raisin" and then farting and she told me to sit down! When I told my daughter this story when she was in elementary school, she laughed uproariously and she said all the kids laughed now about farts! The lucky Punkers!
In 1955 when I was 8 Disneyland opened and my parents took me. I remember they let me drive the cars on the "hiway" over and over and over again. I was thrilled to be driving a convertible sports car over and over and over while they waited patiently. I loved them so much!
I hope my old friends remember me as fun, I enjoyed dancing in the talent show doing the can...Expand for more
can at MDHS and riding on the train to Washington DC from the Ribault HS social studies class.
The wildest thing I ever did in high school was frost my hair in my senior year when I was on the Student Council at MDHS. I then walked at lunchtime with my boyfriend, Jim Quincy and got called to the carpet by the Dean of Girls, Mrs. Honnett! I was mortified!
The wildest thing I ever did at Humboldt was drive my old car with bald tires down to San Francisco during Christmas break with my friend Laurie Walters. We hit a patch of ice on a bridge and almost ended up in the water! Her parents lent her their car to drive us to Squaw Valley where we rode the ski lift to the top and I couldn't ski. Had to sidestep all the way down the mountain.
Earlier trips I remember with fondness was Presbyterian camp at Catalina with John Carnell and Susan Elias, South Shore with Stephani Woolf (she scared me to death when she took off her red sweater and waved it at the bull...we were INSIDE the fence), Big Sur with Gayle Dietrich, we went on a double date and later went to the boys' football game together.
