Jason's Story

Life I'm married with a beautiful little girl (born September 2001) I work in the Federal Court system and am quite fortunate and blessed to have the job I do. Music is still a big part of my life. I've done everything from Rock to Praise and Worship. I've sang in quartets, done solo gigs, and played everything from lead guitar to drums to keyboards. I have been doing contemporary country music for the last several years. I play guitar and am the lead vocalist. I've got one of the hottest country groups this side of Nashville. I've shared the stage with a lot of stars. Last June I was honored to be the only artist invited to play/sing with John Michael Montgomery at the grand opening of his restaurant in Nicholasville. I've not given up my dream of playing music! Outside of being married, raising a little girl, working and music, I don't do much. I do love to lanscape, mess around with photography and I enjoy travelling. I've been to a couple different countries but was unfornately caught dead center of a hurricane last October in Cancun. It was an amazing experience. Let me say I have a new respect for wind and rain. I went into the youth/music ministry for several years in the mid 90's. I wouldn't trade those years for anything. The pay was horrible, but the experiences were/are eternal. Between the mix of ministry and the legal system, both of which I'm very familiar, I have a bit of advice to give to those reading this. Here it is: Though people make mistakes, sometimes AWEFUL ones, it's not always a direct reflection of who they are. In other words, don't judge someone by their past mistakes. Grace happens in an instant. So can forgiveness. I've seen hundreds of people that I grew up with come through court. I've seen people that I grew up with that have drug issues (selling, addictions etc.), multiple DUI's, domestic violence, assault, forged checks, even murder. Truth is, we've ALL messed up sometime in our life. Some greater than others. Instead of looking down on someone or judging them, pray for them and be thankful you're life isn't as bad as you've often complained it is. We all really have a lot to be thankful for. Lastly, maybe you don't know God at all, or...Expand for more
if you do, maybe it's been a while since you've spoken to Him- I mean "really" spoken to Him. If that's you, I encourage you to get it right now. If you've never made that step before and you need advice or want to talk about it first, go to my website and email me. My walk isn't near as strong as it once was, but I still believe and am willing to talk. Workplace I've been truly blessed. I spent a couple semesters in college immediately after high school only to find out it wasn't for me at the time. I went into youth ministry while working at the US Post Office. After working in the ministry I was offered a state job working in the Circuit Court. I went from there to the Sheriffs office, then to the County Attorney's office. The CA's office was the best job I'd ever had. I worked as the assistant to the Domestic Violence prosecutor. I prepared cases for trial. Serving subpoenas, interviewing witnesses, obtaining all necessary documents and evidence to proceed with trial. I loved it. Unfortunately, or should I say, fortunately, I applied for a Federal Job in the US Court System. I didn't really "want" to leave my job at the CA's office, but I couldn't pass up the $$$. I've been there going into my third year (2004). I have had several promotions since my start in the Federal System. I made it to a supervisory position then transferred from the Lexington office to the Owensboro office. This is where I am currently. I'm pursuing a country music record deal in the middle of all this. I love to sing and write music. I've done this for over 15 years now. I'm currently recording my first full length album. I've had some doors open for me. I've played a show with John Michael Montgomery- it was just three of us on stage, my utility player, John Michael and myself. I've played with the fiddle player for Clay Walker/Tanya Tucker and Tracey Lawrence, the list goes on and on. Come this fall, I'll have some of my original music on the radio in the Owensboro/Evansville listening area. I've always had a dream to make it in the music industry and I have no idea if anything will ever come of it, but I've gotten closer within thr last two years than I did in the last 12. I'm very excited.
