Javier's Story
Life
Work has been interesting: I changed my career path as an civil engineer and decided to work in Iraq as a contractor (Feb 04 - Apr 07). This proved to be enlightening and rewarding on many different levels. This was a great opportunity to work along side our military and assist in projects with them. The most important aspect to me is the safety of our troops. It can be a sad place. So it is a good thing when you know that you can help out to make their day a little better. Another gift was the opportunity to meet and get to know local Iraqis that worked with us. There are a lot of nice people out there. The worldÂs heart is good. Hopefully, there will be a day when we see resolution unfold.
Travel: I travel to eat. Thus far, Thai and Indian are top favorites. Incredible food off the beaten path is best. Love getting away and exploring new cultures and people. I call it cultural diving. This is where you go somewhere foreign (even in t...Expand for more
he USA) and drop in, get lost and have fun figuring it all out. I have been fortunate to travel the last few years through parts of Europe, a bit of Asia and the Middle East.
Latest: I returned home (Apr07) to initiate a business venture with partners. We are in the midst of bringing a world changing wastewater technology to the US. This technology provides an environmentally friendly means of mitigating wastewater and creating a water re-use resource. Probably a bit boring to most....but so important for our future.
Water will one day become as precious as the oil we unfortunately hunger for so much. As an international community, we really need to focus on sustainable development matters (ie. water reuse) and consider steps to conserve our drinking water (ie. wash our cars or irrigate with reclaimed water). Conservancy starts at home. We need to strive to keep our world and make it a better place for us and our future generations.
Peace,
Javier
